Battlemechs, MS and 30MM

I've once again managed to procrastinate and not uploaded anything for a while, even though some things have been ready for photography for over a week..

But a silver lining is that I managed to finish up a few Battlemechs and another 30MM kit from bandai in the meantime!

First up we have some Battlemechs:

Another 3 mechs for my Marik Orloff Grenadiers.

A VTR-9B Victor.

A WVR-6R Wolverine.

And finally a BJ-1 Blackjack.

 

My Steiner Lyran Guards also got 3 mechs for reinforcement.

The iconic Steiner "scout" mech, the AS7-D Atlas assault mech. 

A GRF-1N Griffin.

And finally a GHR-5H Grasshopper rounds out the unit.

I have continued to weather some gundam kits, but ran out of matte varnish after finishing up the pair in this post. The shortage have been adressed and more kits will be coming as time goes on! 

First we have a Zeon MS-06FZ Zaku II Kai:

And for the Federation we have a RMS-179 GM II:

While I was waiting to be resupplied I also built and panel-lined another 30MM kit from bandai.

 I really like these kits, they make great grunt suits and are easy enough to customize (even if this one is vanilla for now). As you might have figured out from my gunpla kits so far, you will likely have picked up on my preference of "Grunt" suits over the souped up special super mega prototype-type mecha.

I have more than a few of these kits now, Hopefully they will come in handy for some mecha action wargaming, not unlike the gunpla but with a slightly different feel and tech-base.

First post of 2020, better late than never!

So it's been a while since I managed to post something here..

But I have not been completely idle! A few model kits have been built and I'll probably feature them later, but today I have some things I got from Ali last year:

All these buildings and the road network I received in february of last year, so it only took me about a year to manage to finish them all..

..But there are quite a lot of spare road bits that didn't really fit on the table as well!

I also took a few quick pics with some recently finished Battlemechs:

Most of the mechs from the new box were painted up as 1st Orloff Grenadiers, with the Battlemaster sporting Lyran Guard colors.

Since I've been looking to play some games with my 1/144 gundams as well I decided to see if any of the buildings would work with them as well:

As it turns out, quite a few of them are big enough to work as some degree of cover at least!

More mechs for Lyrans and Mercs and a bit of WiP

I've been trying to get some more hobby time in with limited success, but at least I managed to finish up a few more Battlemechs and I got started on a new GSR project as well.

I picked up these Robotech tactics models as they are what is known as the "unseen" in Battletech, being the original mech models for certain designs. This trio belong to my Lyran Guard company.

Longbow mech. A long range artillery/fire support mech.

 Archer heavy mech. Like the Longbow, the Archer carries a lot of long range missiles, I used some spare parts to make the lasers attached to the lower arms of the mech.

Lastly a Rifleman. Usually carrying a pair of lasers and autocannons in each arm, these mechs usually provide direct fire support or work as snipers with the an alternate 2 Ac/2's in each arm.

My Merc company also got a few new mechs, bringing them to a full company like the Lyrans. Both companies are quite high-tonnage, but I'll probably add more lighter mechs to both sides with my next order or reinforcements.

A Merc Archer. It's identical to the Lyran one with the exeption of the open missile bay doors.

 

Both the Rifleman and Longbow is also identical to their counterparts in the Guard.

The last pair of mechs is the iconic Warhammer. I gave both to the Mercs because the Lyrans already have the two SWS Krieghammer versions of the Warhammer. This is one of my favorite mech designs.

I have played a few 2 vs 2 fights using CBT rules, but given the time investment I will probably only use the original rules for engagements of 2-4 mechs per side. Even those matches can last 3 hours or so. I've been meaning to try out Alpha Strike for full company (12 vs 12) engagements and will hopefully get around to it.

I've managed to pick up a side project to getting the Battlemechs of the 31st century ready for battle, but it's not too dissimilar.

This is the lower half of a giant stompy robot I've started working on. A handfull more are being planned, as is some large monstrosities for them to fight when they aren't pummeling each other.

I'll share more as I manage to complete it!

Salute 2018 loot haul

Having been back from the UK for a few days now, I have managed to take some quick photos of the loot from Salute 2018 as well as a package that arrived on my door the same day I got back.

My haul, with the loot from Salute in front and my items from Palladium Books Robotech line at the top.

 A heavy battle robot from Gydran Miniatures Studio, some tower/silos from Microarts studio and a Tardis for my lovely wife.

While I seldom game 28 or 15mm these days, they still have more than a few awesome miniatures! On the top left is some GZG Japanese and ESU Power Armor, below them is a trio of 28mm Power-Suited minis from Anvil Industries' game Afterlife. To the right is a White Dragon miniatures' Fiddler mech, one of the coolest non-humanoid mechs available at the moment.

I also got the more humanoid Proteus mech from White Dragon as well.

From Brigade I got some more of the exellent 6mm Power Armor, a grav tank and a trio of terminator tanks.

A big generator, also from Micro Arts studio. I also got a refinery/processing plant that can be seen just below the generator on the first photo.

There is a bit of a story behind this Harley mini from Batman miniature game. My wife is generally not interested in miniature gaming, even if we play some board and card games together. She is a huge fan of Harley Quinn however, particularly the animated series depiction of her. 

When we passed several of the vendors carrying the Batman minis she wasn't too interested, until she saw that there was some minis that were modeled on said animated series. But they seemed to have every character exept for Harley! 

So began my quest, I had find one. There was three different vendors who sold miniatures from the Batman game, and after looking through both Wayland Games and another vendor it was looking a bit dark..

At the last stall I couldn't find it either and we were almost ready to give up when I thought I saw something, behind a line of batgirls. And there it was, the last one hiding behind two other models. 

Finally there are my order from Palladium Books: 

A bunch of Robotech minis to be used for Battletech, since the muppets at HG is still making a fuzz about the mechs know as the "Unseens", keeping them from us for too long. This way I get a pair of Archers, Longbows, Warhammers, Riflemen and a single Marauder for my Battletech companies.

So I now have a few minis to paint up for HW and Mekatak, I though I would use the GZG and Anvil minis as Battlesuits/smaller mechs while the Battle robot and White Dragon Mechs as bigger ones.

There is some more terrain to be painted.

I hope to show off some painted minis and maybe even my first game of Battletech in over 10 years.
